Intertextuality in the divan of "Ma-la Yaji" (i.e.What does not come) by the poet, Sultan Al-Sabhan

Abstract

This research discusses the intertextuality in the of "Ma-la Yaji" (i.e. what does not come) by the Saudi poet, Sultan Al-Sabhan approaching the most projected intertextualities in it. Focusing on its connotations, the general vision it carries, and the knowledge of the traditional sources on which it relied on recalling these intertextualities. The researcher categories his work into two parts; introduction and three other sections. In the introduction, he discusses intertextualities, its mechanisms and grades at the most prominent leaders, starting from Mikhail Bakhtin and Julia Kurtzeva, to Gerard Djinnit, with reference to other pioneers who contributed significantly to the founding of this approach. The first section deals with religious textuality, which was confined to one side of it that is the Holy Quran. The second section addresses the literary intertextuality as both poetry and prose that is represented in Arabic proverbs. The third section exposed the historical intertextuality. Then the researcher concludes his study with the most prominent findings and results of the research. It concluded that religious, literary, and historical heritages had a prominent role in the formation of the collection of poems. Then comes the intertextuality with the poetic heritage, then the historical heritage.
