Marital controversies from the perspective of the exchange theory of Peter Blau (a field study on married women)

Abstract

he study is conducted according to the descriptive approach, and it has taken the interview guide as a tool for collecting data.
Thirty sample cases consisted of age groups (35:18, 35:50), and the study took into account the class structure, and the educational and vocational variable, as the study focused on marriage and marriage.. The problem of the study revolves around a major question that was performed: What is the validity of the terms of the social exchange theory (SET) ofBlauin explaining the causes of marital disputes in the Egyptian Society?, what is the way to overcome these disputesto maintain marital life which leads to the control and stability of society?
Therefore, the study aimed to: explain the causes of marital disputes from the perspective of the social exchange theory of Blau.
It reached many results, most prominent of which were:
Low exchange relationships based on material and moral rewards; as it became clear that the relationship between the spouses is characterized by selfishness and individuality.Negative communication is more than positive one. lack of kindness between the two parties, for example, including but not limited to the negligence of husbands for the needs of women, the lack of understanding of men for the physical conditions of women. Also, the wife's lack of interest of the husbands' conditions and mutual disrespect which predicts the disputes lead to divorce due to the drying of feelings between the two parties.This was apparentin all the cases which were studied.
