Abstract

There was much talk about the theory of air discharge to join the blocks that used in the pyramids building, and there were many questions about ancient Egyptian adhesive materials, such as gypsum, mortar, plaster, and others. Although the method of building the pyramids mainly depended on the size of the building stones, pressure and stacking them in an interlocking way, the suspended or stand stone blocks such as columns and architraves had a different way to prevent their of fall or collapse, so that the ancient Egyptian fasten the stone blocks together with different methods, such as clicking and the tongue, using metal and wood nails, while the dovetail style was most common to fasten the major blocks, as in wall and casing blocks of the pyramids, as well as architraves, obelisk bases, foundations and columns crowns…etc.
Dovetail joint is a piece of wood, metal, or stones in the form of a double dovetail, the shorter sides of it is adjacent, or in the form of a rectangular retracted from the middle, after making the appropriate cavity for this fasten, as a half of the cavity is at the end of one of the blocks, and the other half at the end of the second block adjacent to the first block, the dovetail joint is installed and pressed between the two blocks to lead to the interconnection and connecting of the two blocks. The dimensions and materials of the dovetail fasten has varied in its purposes and methods of use. This will be evident in the research.
