The Linguistic Taboo in Translating the English Animated Film "The Croods: A New Era" from English into Persian: A Comparative Study

Abstract

The issue of linguistic taboo is one of the thorny linguistic issues, which has been addressed by many linguists such as: Al-Jahiz, Al-Jurjani, Ibn Duraid and other prominent scholars. They all agreed on the sensitivity of this issue, its complexity, and its connection to many other linguistic sciences. According to their definitions, linguistic taboo is what linguists call it according to custom. Taboos are groups of words and expressions that can be real or figurative and are prohibited from being used in some contexts, for religious, social, moral, cultural, tasteful, psychological and religious dimensions.
The research relies on the comparative method, which is the method that compares two languages from two similar linguistic families, such as the languages under study, to find the differences and similarities between the languages.
Therefore, the aim of this research is to try to study the phenomenon of linguistic taboo through audio-visual translation through animated films that usually attract a young age group.
Here I relied on the English animated film "The Croods: A New Age" translated into Arabic and divided into an introduction, two chapters, a conclusion and a list of sources and references that I relied on
