Abstract

New urban communities play an important developmental role as an active element in urban development initiatives. the Beshaer El Khair project- which is one of the new housing projects - it is one of the most important achievements of the Egyptian state, especially in the file of eliminating slums and criminal hotbeds and replacing them with qualified and humane housing that provides a decent life for citizens. This study aims to reveal the extent of social adaptation in the Beshaer El Khair housing. The field study focused on Beshaer El Khair (1), (2) in the Gheit El Enab area, administratively affiliated to the West Alexandria district. The current study relied on several theories in the context of collecting and analyzing the material, such as: functional theory, worldview theory, and coping patterns theory. In the context of the systematic treatment of the study, the researcher used the descriptive approach, the case study approach, and the evaluative research approach. The study also relied on observation in its various types, interviews in its various types, and reliance on informants in collecting information, in addition to using the field work guide that was prepared specifically for this study. The field study showed the extent to which most residents have adapted to the Beshaer El Khair project and see it as a comprehensive project. Thus, this project contributes effectively to eliminating slums and achieving local community development.
