Hamas's position on the armistice and the truce from 1988-2014 AD has evolved

Abstract

In addition to adopting the option of armed struggle, Hamas worked to
respond to the cease-fire and truce proposals presented to it. The purpose
of this study is to determine the nature of the proposals on cease-fire and
truce, and to answer about these questions: How and why has Hamas'
position evolved from cease-fire and truce? What are the tactical and
strategic aspects of Hamas' use of cease-fire and truce?
The study is based on the historical research methodology. It was divided
into two sections. The first section deals with the evolution of Hamas'
stance towards the cease-fire, and the second section deals with the
evolution of Hamas' stance towards the truce.
The study concluded that Hamas discussed the cease-fire in the hope of
offering an alternative option instead of recognizing Israel's right to exist.
However, no one dealt with this proposal. The concept of calm was then
put forward to a mutual truce by Hamas and the occupying state.
