The character of Pinocchio is a beloved figure across generations of children and adults, remaining a timeless icon that continues to inspire countless adaptations in cinema. This fascination has led to several reinterpretations, including Pinocchio the Robot, a futuristic animated film for children that opens up new avenues for analysis. This article aims to highlight that, under the banner of science fiction, this adaptation could fit within the educational sphere and help instill good manners in young audiences. First, we will examine the main protagonists and explore how the film modernizes the classic tale by substituting characters to align with a modern science-fiction atmosphere. Next, we will show that, while respecting the structure of a fairy tale, the film reinterprets the old story through a modern lens that reflects contemporary concerns while adapting the narrative for today’s children. Finally, we will emphasize the symbolic intent behind the themes presented in the film. By introducing pedagogical concepts, it addresses a wide range of profound topics related to personal growth, moral values, identity quests, ethical issues, and ecological concerns. Furthermore, it offers a sharp critique of industrialization while advocating for preserving nature and highlighting the consequences of automation on humanity and the environment. In this way, this science fiction motivates young viewers to reflect on the relationship between technology and nature in a constantly changing world.
