Calligraphisms hold a fundamental position in multiple studies of semiotics. It is therefore necessary to no longer receive them passively, but rather to read them carefully, decipher them using a solid semiotic foundation, and interpret them meticulously. These calligraphisms can embody certain symbolic, sociological, psychological, semiological, communicative, multimodal, etc., purposes. Ideogrammatic calligraphisme are creative images that evoke stylized and symbolic representations carrying a decorative effect, a historical reality, or a semio-pragmatic dimension. Based on certain linguistic approaches, this research will review the deciphering and interpretation of the purposes of various connotations associated with these calligraphisms from a semiotic perspective. We have classified calligraphisms into six semantic categories: calligraphisms with historical, grammatical, pragmatic, multimodal value, as well as pictographic and decorative value. To be able to decode the shadowy areas contained in images and pictorial works, regardless of their type, it is therefore essential to learn to read them. The image contains many hidden messages that can only be interpreted by an attentive eye and a mind passionate about pictorial semiotics. The primary task is to understand the essence of the underlying purposes conveyed through these semiotic calligraphisms. It is necessary to consider the graphic aspects and the various visual elements co-present in the image, especially those with symbolic meaning or that evoke specific associations. These can be laden with cultural or historical connotations, influenced by the context in which they were created. This research falls within the framework of semiotic studies that focus on the processes of signification. Our study concentrates on the semiological approach of Roland Barthes and the works of the semiotic approach of Charles Sanders Peirce and Louis Hébert, to highlight our understanding of the proposed levels of interpretation.
