Abstract

Since situational satire emphasizes the contradiction between opposing conditions, it is regarded as one of the important forms of satire. Satirists frequently rely on the opportune events generated by the time and the situation. Since this satirical approach is linked to multiple viewpoints, the research is divided into four components: an introduction, a preamble, four sections, and a conclusion. The research topic, the problem and its questions, the rationale behind the topic selection, the goals of the study, earlier research, and the methodology were all outlined in the introduction. At the core of the research, each aspect was dedicated to one of the most notable types of situations in which satire was evident, totaling four. The first aspect addressed satire based on a situation that is completely contrary to expectations, where the action takes a radically different direction than what is deemed appropriate. The second aspect highlighted the contradiction between appearance and reality, where the portrayed individual appears in a manner incongruent with their true nature. In the third aspect, the inconsistency between position and statement became apparent, as the statement turned out to be a mere false claim exposed by the actual circumstances. Finally, the fourth aspect revealed satire through a sudden twist in the situation, turning praise or pride into a mere trap used by the satire to deceive the unaware victim. The research concluded with a summary of its key points, followed by a set of recommendations to enhance the study of Saudi satirical literature.
