Document Type : Original Article

Abstract

Abstract
The study explores the important developments in Palestine at the end of the Ottoman Empire. The core development was the Palestinian peasants who were more than two thirds of the Palestinian population, They encountered numerous obstacles and problems, namely, the tyranny of feudalists, master landowners, the difficult economic situations caused by the high taxes imposed by the Ottoman State, and the Jewish immigration to Palestine. Those Jewish immigrants were looking to seize all Palestine Land in general and the fertile land in particular. The Palestinian peasants found themselves alone facing all these challenges. Further, the study talks about the Ottoman Empire’s position on the Jewish immigration to Palestine and the Palestinian peasants’ resistance to those early Jewish immigrants as well as the seizure of their land by those immigrants.
