Abstract

The research deals with the logical linguistic means of persuasion that Taha Hussein used in his book “The Future of Culture in Egypt.” The research focused its attention on some of the issues that he addressed in his book and that were the subject of controversy and conflicting opinions. The book addresses issues related to education in particular - and culture in general. Because of its great impact in forming an advanced generation that works according to modern European strategies. I chose the book “The Future of Culture in Egypt” because it is a controversial book that raises many controversial issues at that time, and these are topics that are still a subject of interest and controversy to this day. This book is an important reference in education, and an essential source for reforming the education system and advancing the educational process as a whole and general culture in particular. The book consists of two parts: The first deals with the subject of Egypt's history and civilization, defending the fact that Egypt is closer to the West than the East, and then begins talking about educational reform. Starting from primary education, through basic education and then secondary education. Then, in the second part, he moved on to talk about the situation of teachers, the importance of textbooks, and the necessity of teaching a foreign language to students, especially the Greek language. The research aims to explain the means of persuasion that Taha Hussein used to convince the reader of his opinion, or to refute and respond to the other opinion. Therefore, the research relied in its methodology on argumentative theory. The study is divided into an introduction that deals with the book and the criticisms directed at it by thinkers and researchers, then a theoretical introduction that presents the definition of al-Hajjaj and the means and techniques that the research used, followed by an applied introduction that deals with some models of al-Hajjaj from the issues discussed by Taha Hussein in his book, and finally a conclusion with the most important Results and a list of the most important references and sources.
