Abstract

The twenty-first century witnessed a clear interest in disability issues, women with disabilities in particular because of their direct impacts on the country’s endeavors towards sustainable development Since women have an effective role in development processes, this study came in an attempt to research in-depth the issues of women with disabilities, especially the issue of marginalization based on gender, as women with disabilities are exposed to the marginalization that women without disabilities suffer from, in addition to other forms of Particularly marginalization includes, but is not limited to, deprivation of educational opportunities and to obtain work and integration into community activities, primarily because she is female and secondly because she has a disability.
This study aims to shed light on the mechanisms of marginalization and their social, economic and political repercussions on the structural role of women with disabilities and identify the forms of discrimination and marginalization they face and the impact of this on development processes. The study was descriptive and analytical and relied on the gender approach in description and analysis, feminist theory and cognitive theory. The field study was applied based on case studies and concluded with several results, including that there are social and cultural factors responsible for marginalizing women with disabilities, and ignoring their needs in development policies and programmes.would disrupt the development process and its sustainability. The study also concluded that paying attention to the intersection of gender and disability in developing development strategies would bridge the gaps in services, and social disparities.
