The ways of middle class’s adaptation to the phenomenon of economic inflation: A field study on a sample of middle class individuals in Cairo Governorate

Abstract

The current research aims at exposing the ways of middle class’s adaptation to the economic inflation. The research depended on social survey and it also used Likert 3-point Scale as a tool for collecting data from a sample of 300 persons from the middle class in Cairo Governorate. The research concluded that there is a statistically significant difference at 0.01between the repetition of the sample’s responses concerning the ways of economic adaptation that the middle class follows in inflation time as the Observed Value of Chi Square was 167.867 and it is larger than the Expected Value. This means there is a statistically significant difference for the most repeated responses. These responses were reducing of saving that was 77.7%, followed by setting a monthly budget that was 72.7%, then purchasing and storing the basic goods at the time of sale that was 67.3%. The research also concluded that there was a statistically significant difference at 0.01in the level of the economic adaptation for the middle class in the light of inflation according to age, income, and educational level as the Observed Values of Chi Square were 16.929, 62.245 and 69.445 respectively.
