Towards an Ethical Code for Social Research in the Age of Artificial Intelligence: A Field Study

Abstract

The current study aims to try to reach an ethical charter for the use of artificial intelligence applications in the field of social research. Relying on the intellectual concepts of risk society theory, and using the sample social survey approach. The study drew two intentional samples, the first of social researchers who used artificial intelligence methods, and their number reached 41 cases. In selecting the sample, it was taken into account that the social researchers were users of artificial intelligence applications in their social research, and the other intentional sample was of social examiners of university youth, as they were more exposed to the mechanisms of Artificial intelligence during education and more use of computers and the Internet, and those who completed data collection tools through electronic means, and their number reached 150 cases.
The study also sought to develop a proposed conceptual model for an ethical charter to be guided when using artificial intelligence applications in social research, which includes important dimensions, namely: transparency, non-harm, privacy and security, justice, accountability and responsibility.
