The negative impact of bullying on job satisfaction within educational institutions

Abstract

This study aimed to identify the negative impact of the phenomenon of bullying on job satisfaction within educational institutions. The study adopted the descriptive analytical method through an electronic questionnaire prepared for that purpose, and a simple random sample of (87) was selected from workers in educational institutions in the Qalyubia Governorate in the Arab Republic of Egypt. In various educational positions (school principal - school principal - school principal - teacher and first teacher - specialist and first social worker, psychologist, etc.), the questionnaire was applied to them in order to suit this tool for the type of sample chosen. Through its results, the study found a discrepancy between the averages of the responses of the study sample, and the majority of statements were that the process of evaluating the performance of teaching staff and others within educational institutions lacks objectivity. As for the personal characteristics of the bully, it was high except for one statement, and the majority of statements were that the person who practices bullying others is characterized by arrogance, and with regard to the people against whom bullying is practiced, all statements were average, and in first place was their popularity among others. As for the practices of bullying and its negative impact on job satisfaction and some variables, it was average, and that job bullying is practiced from the highest jobs to the lowest. It also resulted in the absence of any statistically significant differences in the responses of the study sample according to the gender variable. There were also statistically significant differences in the study sample’s responses to all dimensions of the questionnaire on the negative impact of the phenomenon of bullying on job satisfaction, except for the gender variable.
