Abstract

This research aims to reveal the levels of dimensions of intellectual immunity and the total degree, and to identify the differences in intellectual immunity and its dimensions according to the two variables: gender (male/female) and the type of study (practical colleges- theoretical colleges) and the interaction between them, and to identify the relative contribution of each of self-awareness and open-mind cognitive, in predicting intellectual immunity and its dimensions among university students. Sample consisted of (n = 500) university students (male/female) between the ages of (18-23) years (M= 20.03, SD= ±1.20). A Scale of self-awareness was applied to them (prepared by: Scheier & Carver, 1985, Arabized and modified by the two researchers), and a scale of open-mind cognitive (prepared by: Price et al., 2015, Arabized and modified by the two researchers), and a scale of intellectual immunity (prepared by: the two researchers). As for the statistical methods, the stepwise multiple regression analysis, the binary analysis of variance, the "t" value to denote the differences between the unrelated groups, the exploratory factor analysis-EFA using the "Hotling" principal components method, and the confirmatory factor analysis-CFA were used. By the method of Maximum Likelihood. The results of the research showed a high level of intellectual immunity and its dimensions among university students, and the presence of statistically significant differences according to the gender variable in the two dimensions of resistance and independent thinking towards males, and also the presence of statistically significant differences according to the study type variable in the long-sightedness dimension.
