Abstract

The research dealt with the novel of immorality by Abdo Khal as one of the social novels that discussed the cultural patterns stored in the unconscious of Saudi society on the theme of women. In analyzing these patterns and reaching the deep structure of the novel, we relied on the concepts and procedural tools presented to us by the semiotics of culture, represented in Echo's thesis, in which he combined the semiotics of Peirce and Grimas on the one hand, and the science of pragmatics and interpretation on the other. We proceeded from the concepts of topic and scenarios and their role in building the narrative and guiding reading, through which we were able to reveal the structures of contrast and symmetry in the novel. The research concluded that the narrator set out in constructing events and characters according to the topic of immorality as a basic topic that the title promoted. The research also- based on Eco's open work- came up with the creation of two terms: organizing and overlapping scenarios, describing the first as a strategy that the writer uses to organize scattered narratives, and the second for subdividing orbits, complicating the narrative, and creating interpretive labyrinths.
