Tragedy of Fall and Loss: A Comparative Study between Mohamed Al-Mansi Kandil's "Inksar Arrouh" (Soul Refraction) and Jamal Mir Sadeghi's "Draz nai Shab: All Night"

"Inksar Arrouh" (Soul Refraction) is a long melancholic love poem about the generation that witnessed July's revolution, carrying victories and passion about love and life. That generation then ended up soulfully refracted and lost after June 1967's defeat. "Draz nai Shab: All Night" is also considered a representation of the Iranian Youth dilemma in the sixties; that wandering generation torn between two streams which hold the key to the solution: A foreign stream and a religious stream. Most of the novel's characters deem the foreign much more prevalent than the native.
Each of "Inksar Arrouh" and "Draz nai Shab" are considered among the works of realism, although they both carry a huge amount of romanticism. These novels delineate the visions of two plastic artists searching for psychological and spiritual beauty amidst society's desperations and harsh reality.
The narrative expression of the two novels was conveyed by the protagonist whose thoughts were vividly materialized through monologues that often lead to the opposite effect on the receiver, considering the two novels' romanticism.

The two novels are considered an expression of dream and loss of dream, vision and nightmare, reality and absurdity; whose characters fail to change. Consequently, they turn into seemingly isolated creatures from this reality. However, these characters are in fact the natural outcome of such reality.
