Abstract

American Cornell School is considered as one of the most famous American philosophical schools that focused on highlighting the reality of ethics and values, contrary to what some have claimed that the field of “ethics” and “values” is different from reality, so how can we explain human obedience to their rulings that contradict reality.
Hence the importance of the Cornell School, which was concerned with subjecting all ethic issues that are not subject to the "space-time" to the scope of natural topics by adopting the causes of modern empirical science, which is a characteristic of this era. This type of realism can be called "exaggerated realism", which was also crystallized in one of its followers, "Peter - Railton". He believes that ethic judgments include the values of honesty, and that moral characteristics follow natural characteristics. Railton also believes that rational thinking fails to reveal the true reason behind obeying ethic commands despite their application to the outside world around him.
So, we will try to the show the role of the “American Cornell School” and “Peter Railton” in explaining the similarity between the field of “realism” and the field of “values” and “ethics”; which explains how a person obeys their rules.
