Cognitive distortions and social support in gender Identity disorder patients "A comparative study between males and females"

Abstract

The study aimed to know the cognitive distortions and social support among those who have disordered sexual identity - a comparative, comparative study between the sexes in Cairo Governorate, and to reveal the statistically significant differences between male and female in cognitive distortions and social support, and the study used the comparative relational approach, and this study was conducted on a sample consisting of (60 individuals) of the sexual identity disorder (30 male -30 female), and their ages ranges between (18-30) years, and the researcher used the following tools: cognitive distortions test the researcher preparation, social support test the researcher preparation, case study and personal interview, The data were processed using statistical methods, and the results resulted in the following: There is a negative correlation between cognitive distortions and social support, and the level of significance has reached (001,), there are no differences between males and females in cognitive distortions and it turned out that the value of T calculated on the dimensions (thinking Duo (1,94), selective abstraction (1,27), evaluation errors (482,), use of expressions must and should (225,), emotional reasoning (16,), personal interpretations (143,), excessive generalization (1,096), jumping to results (1,40) is smaller than the tabular value at the level of (05,) in all dimensions of cognitive distortions. As for the differences between male and female in social support it turns out that there is a difference between Males and females in social support in for the benefit of males This is evident from the calculated value of (T) (3,46) greater than the value of the (T) tabular at the level of significance (001,), in the dimensions of social support (9,08), family support (5, 8), support for friends (7,24), civil support (5,82), support for information (13,58).
