The proposed study aims to explore and analyze the ecological message sent by Andrée Dahan in the novel entitled “L’Exil aux portes du paradis". It is a message that embraces the ecological, the social, and the North/South conflict. Our study is structured around two axes. The first axis deals with the spatial context. The degrading environmental problems currently facing a large proportion of the world's population take pride of place in the novel, with the emphasis on the slum as a living space. Slums are also discussed as a phenomenon strongly linked to economic development, a fact that is gaining more and more ground and thus posing a real threat to any country. Under this axis, two theories emerge, namely "The Anthropocene" and "The Semiosphere", not to mention the spatial turn in literature, which will also be highlighted. The second axis will focus on the environment in its sociological sense, the lived social ecology from which the convictions, perceptions and positions of each individual are reflected. The perspective will thus be broadened, oriented towards the abstract, in order to identify notions such as poverty, exclusion and violence, without neglecting the related discursive paradigm. To this end, two theories will be examined: "social invisibility" and "denial of recognition". The theme of the environment will also be developed from its conflicting perspective represented in the novel by the West and the Third World symbolized by Africa.
