شغلت قضية دراسة مناهج المؤرخين وأساليب کتاباتهم التاريخية اهتمام الباحثين والدارسين خلال السنوات الأخيرة ، فمن هذا المنطلق کان اختياري لدراسة منهجية مؤرخنا الجليل ابن يونس الصدفي المصري، فقد بدأت بحثي بمبحث تمهيدي عن حياة المؤرخ ونسبه ونشأته وأسرته ومکانته العلمية وآراء العلماء فيه وختمت المبحث بوفاته، أمَّا المبحث الثاني فقد شمل المنهج والأسلوب کليهما الذي اتبعه المؤرخ في کتابته للأحداث التاريخية من خلال ترجمته لمن ورد ذکرهم في کتابه، إذ کان دقيقًا في نقل وتوثيق کل ما يذکره عن من يترجم له من الصحابة والتابعين والفقهاء والمحدثين وغيرهم، وتطرقت بالذکر الى منهجه في الموارد وأنواع موارده بشکل مختصر.
